Almost 28 years old. that's just dam stupid, to me. BTW 189mph is the max limited speed that the MC manufacturers decided to limit with street legal bikes. I'm sure many made today would travel at greater speeds if not limited.
Still that ADULT was just stupid. You may outrun the cop, but you can't outrun the "radio".
He is definitely an idiot. The troopers were able to stay up with him so his speed was more like 150-160. He didn't figure his speedometer error when he was all puffed up about his speed. The gentleman's agreement between motorcycle manufacturers to limit top speed has been ignored by a few.
Life makes no sense, as this guy incurred no physical harm in his ADVENTURE, where as the one I noted lost his life going to work, probably doing 75 in a 60 rush hour traffic situation.
My heart and prayers go out to those fellow bikers who have been take from us. There have been a vast amount of motorcycle accidents and many deaths associated with them this past year. Every time I read, hear or see this senseless loss of life it tears me up inside and makes me reflect on my own riding habits.
DD50, your story pulled at my heart. Sad that someone so young had to learn such a hard lesson and the pain doesn't stop there. They were likely someone's little boy, brother, husband, and or father. So many lives touched for no reason.
Joe, your comments also hit a close nerve. My reasons as well, 20 years ago I sold the last of my 14 bike collection which included my XLCR, Ninja, and Street legal version of BMW race bike (90HP full race motor). Amazing how my riding style has changed. I avoid freeways, ride only for pleasure on back roads in good weather. Ride safe brothers and sisters. Remember someone loves you.

I've been wondering all day, why the Lord pressed this on my heart so much, and I now think I know why. As of this posting 543 others have read the thread. If somehow this story touches even one rider to think more clearly and it help save his/her life, it was right to share. Blessings to all who read and will read this.
Being 63, and having a son older than this rider, it really touches home, knowing I can do nothing to keep him in safe in life. tomp dd50

I've passed 3 corpses just this past year. It makes me reflect as it should for us all. We can ride safe but ya gotta pay attention. I often go past the accident sites and pay homage to those who have gone before us...
