It doesn't matter if my bike is rode in the rain, sits out in a 2 hour downpour, or if I'm just rinsing it off. Every time the speedo will fog up on me.
Never has any water inside that you can see, it just fogs up. Sometimes it takes a few hours to dry out.
I looked in the FM and it doesn't show any gaskets to replace. I don't have the parts manual.
Anyone had this problem and fixed it? Thought I'd ask before I get the tube of silicon caulking out.
Actually that is pretty normal.
My 2012 doesn't do it but my 2010 will at times. My 07 I had did it a lot. It didn't have to be in the rain to do it, just high humidity.
Moisture is getting under the console from the front of the tank, where the wiring goes in. Not spraying water around the console area will help. When I use water on the bike...I also use compressed air to dry things out. Heck...i dont usually even use water on the top half of the bike...only wheels/fenders and the front part of engine that gets dirty. Everything else is Windex and microfiber towel . Course....I live in the land of the dust....except for today that is....Raining all day!
My 07 street bob allso does it.. I got the speedo replaced under warranty because of that.. But the new one allso does it.. The mecanic told me it's just another HD weekness.. It has been doing it for 5 years now and it still works perfect.. So i dont even think about it anymore.
