Battery tender, clean tight terminals ( dielectric compound helps) and battery ground to frame tight and clean. Doesn't hurt to put dielectric compound on all fuses. Have it in neutral when starting. There is still drag on a cold clutch even with lever pulled in.
When you push it have it in neutral..you will get a bit of drag having it in gear.
Is the starter actually grinding? Isn't it under warranty? Any codes?
Clutch plates may be dry and dragging, I assume you are pulling the clutch in when you are cranking the engine to eliminate the drag thru clutch and trans. If you don't you are overworking the starter
If you don't ride your bike weekly it should be kept on a battery tender. Sounds like you should get in the habit of always plugging it in when you park it.
If I go a whole week without riding my dyna I actually feel sorry for it (and sorry for me) These baby just want to get out of the garage and run all day long.

Any of you gents have suggestions on a tender that I don't have to pop the battery box off every time to connect it? Pigtail under the seat or something like that?
I've not done a lot of research on battery tenders since I've never needed one on any of my previous bikes. Hell, my CBR sat for an entire 6-month deployment and fired right up when I got home.
Google will be my best friend over the next few days I guess.
I use a CTEK 3300 keep my bike on it when ever I'm not riding it daily keeps the battery in top condition as it cycles the battery remember reading somewhere that it actually will discharge the battery slightly to recharge it or something like that..

Thanks for the recommendation, HSB. Seems like a good product from the reviews I've read.
$58 on Amazon. Need to send Santa an email and tell him I have a last minute add to my wish list....
Sounds like your battery got a little low. Not a problem. Just get a tender and you'll be fine. I have the Deltran Battery Tender Plus. Works great. I only use it when I know I'm not going to be able to ride for more than a couple of weeks. Fortunately I live in a warmer climate so I've only had it on my bike a handful of times. I also have a security system. By the way, you should have a pigtail/auxiliary connector that is available from under the fuse box cover. No tools required to gain access (at least not on my 2010 Fatbob).
Your bike likely already has a tender pigtail and if not, the tenders usually come with one.
The cold clutch drag is normal for a Harley wet clutch, put it in neutral to move around cold. The clutch gets sticky when all the oil runs out of it when it sits.
