I'm looking at some bags and have a few questions before ordering anything.
First, the Easy Brackets from www.greatbikegear.com look like they function well, but they seem to stick out a bit. Are there any negatives other than the way they stick out?
Second, I'm also looking at Cycle Vision's Barebacks. They seem to be a great idea and the installed bags look a lot cleaner. They also leave less behind when the bags aren't in use. However, I cant figure out how they keep the bags from bouncing around and contacting the wheel/pulley/disc. Do I need saddlebag supports to use the Barebacks? If so, which supports work and are compatible with the Barebacks (and are they detachable too?)
i used the easy brackets..they are ok..but they rattle after awhile..never tried the barebacks..best bags i have ever had are the leatherpros..they dont rattle at all..lock on bike really tight

I know. I want them eventually, but they are pricey.
Thanks for the info and offer. I'm not quite ready to buy yet (I have to buy shocks first.)
I'm going to mod some Motocentric throw over bags. They keep their shape well, but I'll stiffen the backside with aluminum or thick ABS.
Do you know which Barebacks kit P/N you have?
Adding a backer is all you'll need for soft bags with Barebacks if at all IMO. I have the CV144 model. You can buy additional parts for these to fit any model if needed.
Had the easy bracket and hated them. Stick out to far.
Got the Barebacks and love em. The portion that goes into bag I didn't completely tighten so I can line up by hand if necessary to fit easier to the fixed fender mount.

If you want to be happy, go ahead and spring for the right bags. Leatherpros or Boss. They both come with all the hardware for mounting, which eases the price quite a bit. You won't be sorry. They fit so much closer than Easy Brackets/Ghost Brackets and are very secure. When they lock, they stay locked.
You can also do like I did, find them on sale used (mine were as good as new @ $400).
You are eventually going to spend the $ for better bags anyway, don't waste $ making up your mind with something you won't be happy with.
Here's how close they mount:
And here's what Ethel looks like without them, very clean.
