it is the lever as stated above the stock one has a tab to engage the clutch compressed button on the perch, the new lever does not, so the bike thinks it is in gear and will not fire
I think I have the same lever, and at all but the last adjustment point the tab will engage the button. The adjuster works off a cam, which is how they get the wide range of adjustment, but I guess at the one extreme it won't make contact.
Nomad,
I did not realize there is a switch in the lever housing. I even looked at a diagram in the service manual. But I did finally find a clutch switch in the left handle bar control module.
Not sure I understand how the clutch lever activated the clutch control switch. Could you explain further and how I can get it to work when I pull in the lever.
Thanks,
Roger
Oberon clutch lever does not touch clutch safety switch

Look inside the clutch perch when the lever is near the bars; you should see a rubber covered switch. There's your trouble.
Or, you could adjust the clutch cable until the friction plates burn up. But it still wont start in gear
Nomad and Loopie , you are a F---ken genius. I cant tell you how many people I asked. I looked into the perch and low and behold is the switch. No damage. The Oberon lever tab does not touch the switch in any position. Its the wrong one. I will be contacting Hog Pro tomorrow to tell them the good news. Now that I have the answer I am sure we can come up with something.
I am so happy that I used the services of the HD Forum.
Happy New Years,
Roger

Yeah well done loopie, bloody legend, i reckon people gonna have to go and re-read the air filter thread also to see you are 2 outta 2 brother, well done, spot on
I had the same problem.... with the Kuryakyn Boss Levers. Just a little short of contacting the pin. As a temporary fix I glued on a plastic tab on the back underside of the lever and it works fine. It's small enough where you cant see it but big enough that if it ever comes unglued it will just fall off the bike and not in behing the clutch lever housing.

Yep that's what I did just epoxy the piece of plastic to the Lever perch everything works great.
You guys are kinda right, i also installed thise levers, and kt worked fine in every lever setting. Then i had my new clutch installed and since then it doesn't work. So he trying right now to solve the problem, i'll let you know what we find out
I had the same problem on my FXDX. Took everything apart and reinstalled the housing and lever being careful not to have to force anything then it was fine.
Problem was that lever had the tab, but the way it was installed it was niot pushing it in enough.
