Default Rear Shocks

Hey fella's...I have a 2010 Wideglide and a crook back...I got rid of the stock shocks and put on a set of Progressive 412's on but went with heavy duty springs and they are a bit hard on the back...I then got some takeoff bagger air shocks from a fella on here and they are a little better but it seems a constant battle to get them to feel good and handle well...I am now on the lookout for some new shocks and was looking for some recommendations..
I'm about 105kg and mostly ride one up...

Cheers...Sparra

I installed my Works streettrackers at 500 miles and they are just fine.
I would buy them again. Plenty of adjustment. I'm 200 lbs and ride solo.

Sparra,
There are many options depending on your budget.

Ohlins top shelf along with JRI, but can be very costly. $900-1300

Works are a bit less expensive and are very good shocks. $600-700

Read this too. These Sway-Away or Sway-A-Way, shocks have been generating a lot of bus and are very affordable. This company is known for good quality off-road shocks and other stuff.

A well written up on this forum subject. Air shocks: This is what is inside them & how they work. The blue arrow shows a real shock piston v/s the air shock: Tell me how changing the oil will improve them?

The other shocks mentioned are a little better but in reality cost as much give or take a few bucks as real shocks. A real shock performs no where at the same low level than the more popular cheap stuff mentioned here. After the sale and the price difference is forgotten, you will still be searching for something that actually rides and handles better. The only problem is you will still have to buy the real shock and you will have a basement full of junk. Pricing mentioned for real shocks are not as mentioned on this thread. HDF members need to do more reading and educate yourself before pissing away their hard earned money, HDF provides the tools for you to do so.

I don't know why people think air shocks are better than coil overs. Get a coil over with the proper springs and a good gas charged shock and you will have a much much better ride than air.

I must be uneducated on prices then Howard. Your website has the JRI shocks ranging from $812-$1900. http://www.motorcyclemetal.com/gpage39.html

The Ohlins site has their Dyna shocks ranging from just over $600 for the base model Dyna shock, to $1500+ for the higher end version. http://www.ohlinsusa.com/harley-davidson

Everywhere I find Works Performance listed, the Trackers are between $580 on sale to $700.

If these things are cheaper elsewhere, no need to be cryptic and condescending. Just tell us where the desls are. Not many of us work in the motorcycle suspension industry.

Like lots of other things, with aftermarket shocks you get what you pay for. You can waste time and money trying out second rate stuff so you might as well do the homework and go for the best.

"If these things are cheaper elsewhere, no need to be cryptic and condescending." You as everyone of you are HDF members, not the general public. Condescending? Just read on this forum and you will get the information you need. I do not think you would talk like what you wrote behind your computer screen if you were standing in front of me just like I do not talk cryptic and condescending to you even not talking to you or behind my screen. I go to shows and I am always readily available and I always treat others if they were in front of me. Maybe you are having a bad day or something or quite possibly read my post wrong. This information is freely available to anyone here, has been for almost a month, since 2005 all HDF members have been receiving my service and special discounts not found anywhere else, all you have to do is put some sort of effort in locating the information. If all else fails than either call or write for information as many here have done so. In the last month read below.

I stand corrected and apologize. It came across condescending, but as I read it again, not so much.

Those are great deals and I had not seen them before.

...but yes, I speak how I write. I'm not always right, but say what's on my mind.
