I hope i have not skipped over the answer some where but here i go. The 06 FXDB does not have the proverbial l pink wire folks talk about. But under the dash to the speedo is a light green wire with purple stripe. It is a serial data cable and goes to pin 2 on the speedo. I seen on some models that include a tach the share this same wire. Now my question is them cheapo 3 wire tach's that are aftermarket will they work on the same wire. Please i really appreciate some help and answer's please so thanks gentleman Oh and reason i dont want to do the pin 3 on the ECM is this old mans hands are way to shaky to fiddle with getting a wire in that darn pin. If some one be willing to solder a 6 inch or so chunk on one them pins and sell me it i take that offer too
I'm not 100% on this but I would say that tach doesn't run off the serial data wire. It says "all Harley's" but there has been numerous changes to Harley's ecms over the years so my bet it that hooks up like any other old school after market tach... Even Harley's own tachs are not universal to all years. I'm sure someone that know more than me will chime in too.
