Default pink wire clipped under speedo?

I have a 2003 RK that I just finishing up. It came in pieces parts as salvage, and I'm
pretty much finished reassembling it.

question, it came with a speedo/tach combo which first of all was not the original
so it had to be sent up for reinstatement. Then, when the bike was done, (I thought)
the speedo worked great, correct mileage and all, but the tach only reset upon the
ignition turned on but would not work beyond that.

I took the dash off and found that the pink wire had been clipped right next to the
deutsch connecter, and when I opened the loom up and followed it down the frame
it was pulled all the way out.

I know I can get the signal from pin 3 at the ecu, and probably it will be in the nacelle
as well, but before I reconnect it, I'm wondering if there would be any reason regarding bugs/fixes/electrical
problems why someone would have gone to all that work, And, if so, if there's a reason
why I should reconsider hooking up the tach wire.

thanks in advance,

SB

I'm pretty sure the pink wire is from the ECU for the tach.

I believe he knew that...

He's more interested if there was a reason the PO removed the entire wire from the loom...

My apologies for adding punctuation sodbuster, was just trying to clarify your question.
