soldering question
I could give all sorts of soldering advice, I used to repair and mod old game systems. Invest in a decent solder iron (not some crap radioshack iron either) and some liquid Rosin Flux. If the solder joints are to be exposed to the weather then I would recommend getting some 3:1 Dual wall adhesive shrink wrap (you can get this on ebay fairly cheap). If any of the wires are needed to run along the bike's frame etc. and are going to be visible you can use some clean-cut PET flex loom (also had on ebay cheap) to cover them and then use heat shrink to seal the ends.
When soldering the wires I find it best to not twist the ends, you instead want to splice them and then push the wires straight together into each other. Squeeze the wires together to push any strays back in. Apply flux and then solder them together!
Keep a wet sponge on hand to clean your tip (never use abrasives to clean it) and always keep it coated in solder when it's sitting idle. This way the tip won't become to hot and become damaged/oxidized.
