That only you can decide. The advise I will give you is to leave your money in the bank before you make a solid decision. A lot depends on what kind of riding you like to do. If it's twisties and back roads with some freeway, keep the dyna. If you plan on touring, get the deluxe.
If you put the money into the bike and then decide in a year you want a new bike then your kinda screwed. My bike has been payed off for a year and was considering a road king and could afford to buy a new one. After considering the extra weight, my age, my riding style, it just didn't make sense for me to get rid of the dyna. If you decide to keep the dyna put 1K into the suspension and you will likely never want to get rid of it.
I also didn't want to start all over with the mods. I really like what I've done with my bike and there is no other that really looks like mine.
Well since its winter this would be the perfect time to customize it. But it depends on what kind of riding you like. Me personally I love my SG because I like riding curvy roads and being able to zip in out of traffic. But if you just like cruising while listening to some tunes then go with a Street Glide, but with 4k you could have one sweet scooter when all said and done
I was thinking of trading for a CVO breakout or modifying my 099 fxdc. Spent a lot on the dyna and am glad. I had it built to a 107 woods 555 cams and also spent $4k on wheels and a lot of chrome. When I figure how to post pics I will. Rationale was riding position on breakout would agrivate my back. Had surgery with metal plate and screws.
I have an '09 that I paid off a couple years ago and been modding left and right. This winter I'm almost done with my S&S 106 build........ So my recommendation would be to mod the **** out of the motor & make it sound way better than your buddies street glide.
I say hop it up. I ride a road king quite a bit and it no way compares to the agility and fun of my dyna. Don't get me wrong, I would still like to get a road glide but I won't trade in my Dyna for it. Or my softail
i sold it, modded out a zx14 and a ducati hypermotard, then sold those bikes and now a on the touring kick.
you will enjoy a bigger bike if thats what you wanna do. if you like yours then modd the f'k out of the motor brakes and suspension. not having a payment is sweet
