I would think that if your bike was in an environment of constant temperature that you should have no problem leaving the oil in. this is only my opinion.

If it were me, I would check the dip stick, make sure the oil level is sufficient and take her for a short spin. Put it back on the jiffy stand and if the oil looks a little off color or even milky, chances are that condensation has built up in your engine and I would change it.

If there is no change in the color of the oil I would get back on and ride, ride, ride!!!!!! Just keep an eye on it(check the oil before each ride as you are supposed to) for the first few time you take it out.

I also have 4-wheelers and I don't change the oil in them when they set up for a spell.

I have just read a few articles that state to change your oil before placing your bike in storage, but I can't find any that state to change when removing from storage.

200 KMH, I would think that the oil was pretty fresh when the bike was placed in storage.

Doug if you don't agree, fill this guy in on what is best for his bike. I really can't relate to this as I can't see myself placing my bike in storage. I live in Louisiana and there hasn't 2 or 3 days in a row that my bike hasn't been ridden.

You have to think about a couple other things in addition to mileage.

Oil should be changed after a few months even though you didn't ride at all. How long has the oil been in the engine?4-6 months--then you should change based on age alone regardless of mileage.Water vapor in the air condenses and puts water, even though only a drop or 2 in the oil.Rust starts. Engine blow by is acidic and when it gets into the oil sump it can start rust and other bad stuff..

With this in mind it is very important to change oil BEFORE storage. You get rid of the bad stuff in the oil. Of course do the filter to.

A $15 investment if you do it yourself, protects a $15,000 +/- bike!

15 bux oil change dont think so anymore.8.95 filter hd oil is 4.95 a qrt now .chicago filter was 7.16 plus wouldnt ship oil across line so had to give 4.95 at dealer.one case cost me 63 bux with tax. 200 miles i would run it for another 2k and drop it unless like already has been said if you see it milky etc.

To keep acids and moisture out an engine has to be brought up to operating temp. My Low Rider takes at least 30 miles in 70Âş weather to come up to operating temp.

Short rides allow an accumulation of these nasty things. To allow oil to remain in an engine that was operated like that should not happen.

If your riding habits are the short ride type, change it.
