So I'm sure this has been asked about 100 times, but I'm riding with the stock bars on my '07 street Bob and I want to get apes. But being in a VERY strict budget I was wondering how tall I can go on the stock cables. ive been told it's possible to go all the way to 15" bars with stock risers, but have also heard 12 is the highest you can go. So i figured i would put this up here so get some direct answers from numerous ppl.

Do you have baby apes now? 12"? If so I have a 2003 wide glide with stock cable length (had 12" stock bars) and went to 14" apes. It worked good but don't know if you could go any taller as my brake cable was maxed out. The throttle cables and clutch cable could have went to 15" for sure maybe 16". Hope this helps

 

So upon further inspection and checking out that link (thanks btw) i trying to figure out how the guys who kept their stick cables with 15" bars routed their brake line seeing as how it has that middle section that is metal tubing rather than regular cablel
