Ok guys got it done. Went to the hardware and bought 5' of 12/3 jacketed cable , pack of automotive vibration proof butt connectors. I could not run the wires inside the backbone as first planed so I went up along the outside on the left side (sitting on bike) then into the neck area. I removed original switch and unplugged the connector. Reinstalled the switch for the fork lock function. I then cut the plug off the switch wiring harness and left about 4" sticking out of the plug. The cable I used has three 12 gauge wires white, black and green. I hooked the red/grey to the white wire ,the red/black to the black wire and the red to the green. Put them all together with the butt connectors and taped up good and stuffed them in the neck by the original switch. I ran the cable through the battery box along side of the hot wire on the battery. I had to grind out a little to enlarge the hole in the back of battery box so the cable would not have a chance to pinch. With the battery box cover on your lap and the prongs of the new switch facing away from you the red/black wire will be on your left. Withe plug that you cut off up front bend the 4" of wire you left on at a 90* angle to the right. With the plug held about in the center of the battery you can now make you connections with the colors red/black to the black from new cable and so on.Now plug it on the new switch , put the cover on the battery turn on the switch and you are done. And DON'T FORGET to unhook battery while you are doing the wiring. If you have any questions you can email me at dwclapper@embarqmail.com I check my mail off and on all day. PS what looks like chipped paint to the battery box band is just glare from the overhead lights. And I don't have it snapped on the cover, it need to have a couple more coats of clear.I really bought 6' of wire and had a foot left over.It was around a buck and a half/ft.
Enjoy your new switch Dave C
