Trust me, I'd rather travel light & ride but unfortunately this extened trip requires gear not even a dresser could handle. I just want the bike along so I don't miss 4 months of riding!
I agree, the guy is going on business. Do you want to ride there and try to hang everything you need to do your job on your bike just for the sake of saying you rode it there or trailer it and use it when you have the free time to do so?
I never thought I would own a trailer. But if you are serious about this hobby a trailer is an evil necessity. Learn from my mistakes :
-Bigger is not necessarily brtter.
- Forget about open trailers period.
-Will you ever want to haul more then one bike.
-Longer is cheaper then wider.
-Lower is better then higher.
-Lighter is better then heavier
-What is the capability of your tow vehicle.
-What else might you use it for.
-Do you have room to store it.
-Electric brakes are your friend.

I spent 3 months last fall looking for an enclosed trailer for winter travel. I have owned open trailers before and was always worried about theft, damage and salt and sand. Bought mine on e-bay for $2500 cdn used. It is a 5x10 roadmaster 05 model. You can get a used trailer in the US for a lot cheaper . It serves me well. 1 . Place to store bikeall seasonout of my garage . 2.Small enough to fit in my garage, for maintenance. 3. kept my bike clean while traveling south and back this winter. Who want to spend 2 days removing salt and sand when you reach your destination? . Watch out buying used u-haul trailers they are not well maintained...Mark...
