I just got my first twin cam HD, a 99 Dyna. Got my first ride in this past Saturday. Everything was mostly fine but I do have a couple of random questions that maybe someone can help answer for me......
I do have the HD manual....but it doesn't have all the answers.
1. When I pull the choke to start the bike when cold.....I have to hold the choke or it will return to the closed position. Is that normal operation?
2. The front brake light switch is a little slow to dis-engage. It comes on the moment I touch the lever but during (and after) my pre-ride function check.....it was slow to come off. Almost as if the switch was too close to the lever. Again, is this normal?
3. I paid 45.00 for a set of rear brake pads that are supposed to be the "bee's knees" and won't squeal or squeak.....well, of course they were squeaky when I applied the rear brake. I put them in dry, meaning no type of lube any where on the pad, caliper bracket or sliders. Should I dis-assemble and add some type of lube?
Not much help but I can tell you the enricher **** has a small plastic ribbed "nut" that you can tighten but it can crack if you over tighten it. It's right behind the **** you pull. Mine does the same thing I can't seem to get mine tight enough think the insides are too worn.
Choke: as mentioned, there is a round 'wheel nut' just behind the **** mounting bracket that can be tightenend/loosened to adjust tension on the choke.
Front brake light: the little plunger at the front brake lever is a little 'sticky' and may need to be cleaned.
Rear brake squeak: try scuffing the pads with some sand paper, and clean the rotor/pads with some brake cleaning fluid.

Looks like a new enrichener cable runs about 15 bucks from HD....so I'll take a good look and see why its moving so freely....if the worst case is 15 bucks to fix. I can live with that.
$45.00 for a set of brake pads seems pretty cheap to me, I've always gone with Performance Machine, cost more, but work great and greater piece of mind. Your "bees knees" may be just that, just as strong as if a worn out pair of bees knees were stopping the bike. I am more confident with a better brand. Just my .02.

How much more are pads from PM? Two little pads for 45 bucks was kind of annoying to me.
