Hey y'all. I have a 2002 wide glide with the standard mid height backrest. My wife has been complaining that she wants something taller. I was looking at Cycle Vision's 30 inch Daggertude sissy bar, but most retailers list it as a "show only" item. Anyone know of a nice tall sissy bar that will support a passenger's weight? Anyone have the Daggertude and know if it will support a passenger?
Good question but I think they probably state that for liability purposes. Any back rest is subject to mounting bolts holding up and being installed properly. Back support is one thing but reclining back is another in my opinion. I am considering one myself but have not decided on what I want. I am leaning towards something that is rigid mounted as I just do not really like all of the detachable stuff offered.
Go on Ebay and search for sissy bars by Bowman Welding. I just put one of them on my Street Bob and I don't think you can beat the quality. Made from solid 5/8 inch steel and all bolt holes were machined perfectly to match the mounting bolts on the fenders. Mine sits about 16 inches above the fender.
mounts on inside between the fender and strut got a 16" on my 06 street bob. very clean looking mount, you can have them taller with or without passenger back pad mount.
