So, I am putting a solo seat on my Wide Glide soon and tonight we take off my side plates and backrest. After we get them off my buddy pull off this little square of foam tape that was put down to "protect the paint". Underneath it was a nice gouge in the paint, but nothing too bad. So just then he pulls off the other little square and what do we find???? Another HUGE gouge in the paint and it is into the metal. I about fell to my knees in disbelief. I am going to take it down to see ol' Dad tomorrow and see if he has any thought(he is a 30+ year veteran body man). I know it is going to need filled in and painted at some point, but I want to see if there is a quick temp solution. I guess the only good thing is that the one is about the size of a ink pen tip and the other is about the size of of the other end of the pen...but to me it is still too damn big. Would the dealership have matching touch up paint typically?

You should be able to get matching paint from the dealer, but good luck getting it to match because of the clear over the factorypaint. I am sure that any reputable painter would be able to match it though. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Thanks Guilty. I just bought a luggage rack that Murphdog had for sale so hopefully with my dad's skills with a camel hair brush and that rack I can avoid getting it repainted this season. It was just a kick in the nuts I didn't expect.
