I knew my bike got good gas mileage cruising in the 50 to 60 MPH range, but yesterday I rode to my folks place which was almost all highway...I-95 and I-4.
My average speeds were 65 to 80 most of the trip. Filled up before I left and again when I got close to their place. I'd rode 127 miles and my bike only held 2.6 gallons. That's right around 49 MPG. I was expecting closer to 35.
I have an 02 wideglide, carbed, and get as much as 52 mpg with two-up at 50-55. It has the 95" and 211 cams with 9.5: 1 and I only use premium. If I'm running 80-85 on the freeway it gets 39. Not too bad for a 116k mile scoot. it is nice to get good mileage. I did go up a tooth on the forward belt pulley and that helped a lot too.
I once got 211 miles riding between 80 and 86 mph on a hot july day on my'08 fatbob with a SE 103 build sporting 255 cams, and a HD detachale windshield on the front! I was pretty amazed. I guess the humidity air and road conditions were just perfect that day! That's a whopping 68 mpg'S ----> I SiHT you not!!! As a matter of fact it happened the same day I took my sig pic seen below.

I get 33 mph and I am not an agressive rider. Have re tuned with a Power Vision and I think the richer mixture reduces the mpg. I must admit I expected better. Have even tried a few different tunes and auto turns with no help. On the other hand , since using the PV, I find the bike runs smoother especially a very low speeds.
