Out riding the other night on some twisties and scraped a peg for my first time. At first, I thought it was my foot hitting the pavement, but then I realized I'd just scraped a peg.
It didn't scare me at all, and was actually quite satisfying as I only have about 1500 miles under my belt as a new rider.
Congrats! I'll tell you what's worse. Finding out the $400 floorboards you spent half a day putting on drag just the same as the original mids did. That was a couple weeks ago. They are pretty well broke in now.
I don't normally scrape my pegs or floorboards, but the first time my wife took the DYNA for a ride she did scrape them really good. Also the turn signals, clutch lever, handlebars, gas tank, front fender,shift lever, outer primary, her face and her leg.

I remember when I scrapped my first peg on the Wide Glide; took a turn a little late and wider than I originally intended and it scared the hell out of my at first. When I got a few feet out of the turn those thoughts went away and turned into a feeling that I has to do again. And it continues
Scraped lots of pegs and mufflers and cases, but the one that really scared me was putting it on a peg and handlebar at good speed. Obviously didn't have the back rubber on the pavement, but got it back up somehow. Did that lots of times on dirt bikes off road, but wouldn't recommend it on pavement, suspect most of the time (at my age now, all of the time) would be extremely unpleasant. Not to mention grinding the end of the handgrip off...
