Default Trying to help out a buddy

a good buddy of mine sold his Softail Night Train and Bought a 2009 Street Bob, he loves the Bob and says it is more fun to ride. He asked me to relocate his turn signals but here is where I got stuck, the signals go into the switch housings, I open the housings and see the wire coming thru, so then I go to see if I could pull the harness out of the frame to get the connectors, but I could not figure out how to pull these out. Anyone know how to get the harness out of the front of the frame so I can get to the connectors for the signals?

You'll see a rubber gromet on both sides of the bike in the frame right under the front of the tank. You can pull out one side of the gromet and inside is the wiring harness connectors. It is easiest to take off the tank bolts and slide the tank back a few inches to get access. If you slide the tank back undo the quick connect fuel line for the tank (after you depressurize the line) and put a towel over the heads so you don't scratch the heads with the clamps for the crossover line.

I did remove the rubber grommets, and tried to pull on the harness on each side but they won't budge, am I missing something, are they tied down somewhere, I removed the seat to check under it but found nothing

You are talking about the front turn signals? Once I disconnected the connectors inside the frame they pulled through. Mine were not zip tied.

If you are in fact talking about the front turn signals and have not moved the tank back then you are making it harder to see or feel what is going on on there. I couldn't do it without moving the tank back

I must be having a dumb moment, I am able to pull the grommets on each side, then I try to pull the hand control harness on each side and they won't come out so that I can get access to the connetors, what does pulling the tank back do, I have an 2002 and was able to pull the wires out and get access to the connectors with no issue, I am just trying to help my buddy with his new Bob and he has not got a manual for it yet

Ok it has been awhile since I've been in there. but by moving the tank back you will see a plastic door (to the left of the gromet but under the frame) pull the plastic door out and you will have a better idea whats going on.

It's very crowded in there so sometimes all the connectors get bunched up. With access to the "trap door" you can manipulate them. It's a much bigger openning then the gromet.
Didn't you use to have a sportster on the XL forum? If your the same person I was thinking of...did you ever rebuild it after it got wrecked?
