You are correct Zip..... I mis-spoke when I said he used a Sportster hub. I meant to say narrow hub. So I stand corrected, thanks.
Good luck with your project. Show us see how the build turns out......pg

Ever try lacing your own wheels. Lot of satisfaction when done - ins. in manuel - send out for true and balance - something to do...
You are using ss spokes and nipples - right ?

tireater,
no I have not laced a wheel (yet). This wheel required custom sized spokes so I sent it out to be laced as I do not know how how to measure and the shop will measure and order the spokes, etc. I did unlace the wheel which took me about 25 minutes.

Last time I unlaced a wheel it took about 60 sec. - 4" makita and a cut off disc - didn't use 1/2 disc...
Don't forget to remove tire FIRST ! MUCH TOUGHER LATER !....
I will try to get pics tomorrow - I have them on aCD - but will have to reduce them by 1/2.
Had to go to L.A. today to get gov. permits andgirlfriendis over for 3 days....may get nutn done...
I laced up the custom front wheel for my bagger to make sure everything fit before powdercoating...10 min = done...
I didn't even finish my second beer - the key is having the correct length spokes - 1/8" too much = nightmare...
There seems to be a limited amount of mods. on any bike - the onesI do myself give me satisfaction - THAT LASTS !!!

Let us know what size spokes you have to order since they are custom. I read Billy post and he said he didn't think a OEM 16 HD rim would work. What size 16" rim are you using, and tire size.

The stock HD 16" rim & tire size are fine for this mod. It was the stock16" spokes that i think wouldnt work so a differnt size needed to be re-ordered by the indy. Luckily I had a spare set up while waiting so i wasnt down the hole time.
