So I enjoy my 08 FXDC. The only thing I added was cycle shack slip-ons. I love the sound but the power is down from the stock exhaust. I know the back pressure difference is why I am down on power. So does it really help adding a intake and refresh? I am sure it will help a bit but the cost of buying a flasher and intake is going to be $600ish. Will doing just that out perform what the power was with the stock exhaust? I do know changing cams, head work, big bore etc will make more I just am not in a position to spend thousands just yet.
Thanks for the time I am sure this has been covered dozens of times. I tried searching but it is a pain in the *** on my phone.
I never used cycle shack slip-ons. So i can't vouch for them. But i am surprised it was down enough that you really noticed it. There is all kind a comments on adding the air cleaner and rather or not you need any sort of flash etc. Some folks claim XIED's help i tried them and seen some improvement but when i did the cams i want to a powervision tuner. I have the XIED's here PM me if interested i let them go half off there listed price there only 8 months old.
The best move you can make is Sell the Harley and buy a Honda . Then go on a long trip with the money you saved . You will have double the horse power maybe more .

Lol I know. If the power is what it is. I can live with it. I use to do quite a few track days on street bikes back in the day. I know these will never have the power sport bikes do.
I was just getting an idea. I I'm fine with the stock exhaust power but really don't like it sounding like a gloldwing either. So I prefer the louder pipes. Just not sure if the intake will fix the power or not.
I totally understand just a little B.S . I would look into a 2 into 1 pipe .
With a 2 into 1 you may (will) pickup some power and still have the sound you are looking for If you just do the pipe you may not need a tuner ?

Never say never. There's more and more 150-200+ hp Harleys out there these days.
If you're completely satisfied with the way your exhaust sounds and looks and you just want the most out of it, get the high flow intake of your preference, a good tuning device and a GOOD dyno tune. You will be very impressed. The high flow makes a big difference, but the bike needs a good tune. The cycle shacks will make more power than the stock mufflers when the bike's tuned properly.
Want some help improving low end TORQUE??? Take up that offer on the XIEd wires and get some HP baffles. The XIEd wires trick the O2 sensors by giving a different voltage and the Puter MUST richen up the A/F Ratio. The Xied wires also makes it run cooler since it running richer. I'll sell ya mine, I converted to a CV 40 and no longer need them - 07 SB. The HP baffles will give you back the bottom end torque you lost AND keep a "healthy" sound.
