Default Just bought some Ohlins!

...And I'm STOKED! Can't wait to get these suckers on the bike. Been running one blown shock on the DX, ride has suffered. Just noticed the other one is gone, too. Ride has been terrible for the last week...

Went with the s36e models. I wasn't able to get the slightly upgraded ones at the length I wanted. Plus, would I even have been able to tell the difference? I'm wagering no. So...

Who has installed these? Is there anything I should know? Heard talk of alignment, shimming, etc. What's da scoops?

Thanks!

I'm running the HD909 which are similar to yours. The bearing lugs are narrower than stock shock, so you have to add spacers between the shock and the mount. Mine came with them.

The 909 is a 13" shock meant for the heavier Road King, but they work perfectly on the Dyna.

Do yourself a favor and follow the setup guide for sag and rebound. These things have so much adjustability that they only perform as good as the setup. When done right, they are incredible.

Interested in how they work out for you. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I thought the S36E only had adjustable preload?

This is correct. Achieving proper sag is super important. His 909's have added adjustability, I believe.

Yeah your right. They have the same piston diameter, but the 909 is gas charged, has length adjustment, and damping adjustment.

Still, I think you'll be very pleased if you take the time to set them up correctly.
