I traded a heritage softail for my street bob. I have c.p. so I have to have an easy bike to get off the kickstand. I have ridden my street bob everywhere including a 4K plus trip to CO. and back from montana. Best bike I have ever had.

thank you all. I am nervous and excited. To justify spending the money for a new toy is always hard, especially when money is so limited as it is. But, I haven't sat on my street glide since last october. Pulled it out of storage yesterday. Sat on it, and had to shake my head. To reach the kick stand, I have to push the heavy bike a bit off center, to the right, and I have to stretch my left leg farther than it can reach, to get the bike off the kickstand. Being 5"4, I really am about 2 inches too short to ride that bike safetly. I can't believe in less than 1 week, I will be bombing around on a handsome bobbing ride with such freelance style. Imagine. After 2 years, I'll be able to reach a kick stand again!! Liberation. Finally. As a Life Coach, I know...I don't have to stick to a wrong choice that I made. I get to accept the consequences of those choices and I get to choose again, letting go of the past and moving on...which is what I am doing. Thank you all, for your input and sharing. Blessings and love to all. Kim

In November, 2012 my garage was flooded by Hurricane Sandy and my 2004 Road King Custom was a total loss. I had always said the RK was the perfect bike for me. I took the insurance money and put in in a simple savings account knowing if I put it in the main account it would get used to repair my flooded home. Eight months later I was in my rebuilt home and started looking for a new bike. I rode every big bore bike in Harley's stable at Americade in Lake George, NY. I also rode BMW, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Victories. I fell for all the Dynas but for me the mid controls, chrome and two tone paint of the Super Glide Custom grabbed me. As it turns out I ride it much more than my Road King due to the ease of moving it in and out of the garage, the fun factor of the handling and acceleration and just the overall love of the feel and ride. As you can see in my signature photo it sets up well for long trips too.
You don't know how much you have renewed your riding experience. Cheers!

BTW I am commencing my training to be a life/business coach. Scaling back on the business travel and time to use 40 years of experience to help others.

Congrats on the new bike, once your on the road Im sure you will have no regrets. On a side note when I changed to a mustang vintage seat (2010 FXD) it was much easier to plant my feet and walk around while seated. The seat being narrower in the front made a big difference without losing any comfort I had with the previous sundowner. Enjoy your new ride!

I've had a SB for 3 years now, and now that I have it customized to my likes I can ride all day on it. I can turn it around in a single lane on the road, it's a wonderfully balanced bike, it's got a 5+ gal tank, I've outfitted it with bags and a rigid rack. LOVE EVERY ASPECT OF IT!! I think you are smart to realize the shortcomings of a touring bike for a smaller woman. I keep wanting a touring bike but I keep everything you said in the back of my mind. I'm 5'3 and 160lbs. The ONLY thing I don't like is the skinny front tire. It tracks easy when you hit a crack in the asphault. The FAT BOB is the same Dyna format, nice balanced ride, but it has the fat front tire. Makes tracking less of an issue.

When I switched out the stock tires on my 07 SB for Michelin Commander II's the tracking almost completely went away. It takes a big empty crack to make it track now.

Update, I picked up the Street Bob Saturday. I had the best experience from Kamloops Harley Davidson, in British Columbia Canada. I had no regrets leaving behind the Street Glide, though it had given me a lovely 5 hour ride, across the ocean on a ferry sailing. The Street Bob, within hours, saw me safely through mountain passes, rainstorms, thunderstorms, overnight at hotel, and home, following a ferry ride. After a nice bath, the Street Bob was on the road again, the next morning, doing a tight switchback backroad 3 hour ride, full of twists and turns and nature. We hit all sorts of road conditions, and rain again. The Street Bob is lovely. The only complaint is my lower back and hips really hurt after an hour or so. I will ride with a sheep skin for now, and in the winter, I will send the seat to Mean City Cycle to be modified. I had the same pain on the stock seat of the Street Glide. But after sending it away to Mean City Cycle, the seat was amazing. I have 1,000 km on the motorbike and it has had its second bath...way easier to wash than the Street Glide. The roughed out surface plastic on the Street Bob has me stumped how to wash it properly. Any ideas? Thanks for all of your input. The ride is everything I had hoped. Hugs to all.
