Congratulations on your new Bob. I am loving my 2014 that I bought new a few weeks ago. My bike has not needed a bath yet. Will have to see what challenges the black finish brings. Enjoy your new ride. To me, it just feels like the quintessential Harley.
....The only complaint is my lower back and hips really hurt after an hour or so. I will ride with a sheep skin for now, and in the winter, I will send the seat to Mean City Cycle to be modified. I had the same pain on the stock seat of the Street Glide. But after sending it away to Mean City Cycle, the seat was amazing. I have 1,000 km on the motorbike and it has had its second bath...way easier to wash than the Street Glide. The roughed out surface plastic on the Street Bob has me stumped how to wash it properly. Try letting your knees stick way out some of the time to relax your hip flexors. Did you get highway pegs? They sure help on longer rides to stretch out the legs. Your lower back could be from reaching for the mini-apes. I'm pretty short; that was my experience when I first started riding the Bob. Blue non scratch Scotch-brite pads work well, with a good dish soap like Dawn, for the rough surfaces.

Oops, guess I should've read the entire thread first. Congrats on your new ride. One thing that may help with your pain is to mount a set of extreme reduced reach handlebars in place of the stock mini-apes. They will allow you a more upright sitting position without having to reach way out for the handlebars. I've put them on my Low Rider and now I wonder why I waited so long to do it. They also made the bike much easier to handle. Well worth the cost IMHO.

Hi, I did talk to the dealer about the Low Rider. For what I wanted to do, with the look, they said I should stick with my original choice, of the Street Bob. I didn't want all the chrome on my bikes anymore. And wanted to enhance what was already black on the 2014 Street Bob, with a bit more black, as in a black 2-in1 exhaust/ a/c cover etc.
I will consider looking at the super reduced reach bars, as you recommend. One thing I will do, in the winter, is send my original seat to Mean City Cycle, to have them move the seat 2 inches forward, and pad the seat with memory foam. I did this for my street glide, and it was amazing, and not expensive.
Yay! You got the Street Bob. I don't think you will regret it. After you make it yours, it will grow on ya! As far as long trips go, I just stand on my pegs for awhile when my butt starts to fall asleep, that always works for me. Have fun!
I think you should ride a few bikes and see what fits you best. I'm the same height as you and have ridden my friend's Street Bob. While it fit me okay I had to reach for the bars. I know they can be rotated back, but my '03 Low Rider fits me better. I have other 2-up seats I put on when carrying a passenger, and have a quick-release windshield, sissy bar and luggage rack I can quickly throw on. For touring I have a set of leather saddlebags that I can add; but for that I much prefer riding my Ultra with the batwing fairing, extra storage space and audio system. I'm lucky enough to have a few bikes, but when the time comes to downsize the Low Rider will be the last one I let go. I like how Dyna's handle - and the ability to customize - you can totally change the look of your bike. A blacked out bike looks sharp, but I prefer the chromed out look of my Low Rider. This past winter I replaced the stock spoked wheels with mags which I prefer for looks and maintenance. Here's a picture as it sits today.
