Default Bar options...

I'm looking for options to replace the bars on my FXDC - admittedly, I've never had to fiddle with bars before because it wasn't necessary on the other bikes I've owned. I pulled the stock bars back but I don't know that I can go much further than where they are before I get to the point where the turn signals might be able to contact the tank or the angle gets wonky. I'm looking for something in a drag bar or maybe even a t-bar that isn't high that will pull the bars back toward me just a bit without having to change cables. I'm surprised that I'm having a reach issue with the stockers at 5'11" with long arms but it feels like I'm constantly leaning forward - particularly at highway speeds - and it gets hard on the back. I intend to get some type of wind protection soon but that won't completely cure the problem. A new seat with some back bolster would help too I imagine. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hard to sort through all the info with the search function to see if this has been addressed before.

Combo of the Harley 4inch riser and windshield should help. The riser brings the bars an inch and a half closer to you. Also you can send your seat to Mean City Cycles and they will reupholster it so that you are moved forward if you want. I found when I sit too upright I needed a back rest. Leaning slightly forward without wind on your chest should help.

I thought about the risers and that might be the most economical way to go - not looking to spend a fortune on bars. I do like the look of a drag bar though. Might see if I can pick up a used set of pull-back risers for the time being though...

Best is to make one mod at a time and live with each of a while. Small changes can make a huge difference.

Night Train FXSTB drag bars may be what you want. They sit on 6 inch risers stock so they arent that high. They would run about $250-300 new but you can find deals in the classifieds or on CL ebay etc. I put a set from a 2009 FXSTB on my FXD and I didnt have to change any cables and only had to extend my speedometer wires. I'm 6'3" and this setup was too short for me. I went with 8" risers and kept the drag bar and am comfortable now. The drag bar is really comfortable on the hands and wrist IMO.

Im standing just 5'5" tall and for my maximum comfort level Im using a 16" pullback handlebar and reduced reached with backrest seat. Now I can lean back a little bit during uninterrupted cruising ride.

I had the same issue with my stock bars...always felt I was leaning forward and also thought they were but ugly. I looked for a long time and took a lot of measurements and found some t-bar drag bars on amazon by bkrider for 90 bucks brand new.
If I remember right, they are 8" tall with 7" of pullback. I can sit up straighter and also don't have my wrist twisted up like the buckhorns did. They are set up for internal wiring so I took advantage of that and I also relocated my turn signal while I waited for the bars. I got the bars in 3 days. The chrome on these bars are excellent and the only thing I see different then the bars for 300 bucks is the welds aren't invisable but not noticable either.

Wondered how many of those I would get. Looks like a pretty cool place. Sadly, my favorite bar is in Edinburgh, Scotland...

Those look a lot like the bars on my last bike - a Kwakasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. They were really comfortable bars - put the hands in a good spot. I may take a good hard look at those - thanks for the suggestion.
