Having ridden the Switchback back to back with the others, I agree it is far more comfortable with floorboards. Dealer quoted a small fortune to make that swap though. Don't know why stock parts are so bloody expensive.
FTR, The seat on the Switchback is much better too. I'd love to see Harley make a LR without the lowered suspension, the Switchback's cartridge fork, and with the addition of SB seat and floorboards. I know you can bolt on anything, but it irks me to correct something that could easily be sold right outta the box. Hell, they could offer a windscreen and detachable, hard saddlebags and just put the fugly, buzzy SB out to pasture.
I found the switchback exhaust on Ebay for 250. So they can be had for a good price . I like to ride too and I ride distances , so comfort is important . Having put about a hundred miles on it this weekend I can now say it's almost as comfortable riding as my ultra classsic. I have ridden the switchback a few times on demo rides and it doesn't come close to how the low rider feels with floorboards
Have gone 3 days without riding. Looking forward to my drive to work on Mon. Best part of my day is the drive to work and then the drive back home.
I enjoy it as well. We had 5 of us riding into work this morning and then just the two of us coming home tonight. The ride home is the best, nice way to unwind after a 12 hour shift. My ride is 50 miles each way, 90% highway.
I purchased a new 2014 FXDL in January, and brought it home on April 13th. I have made several changes to the bike, and will soon be finished with it. I am in love with this bike, it is a blast to ride!! After owning used bikes all my life (I'll be a VERY youthful 52 on the 17th), this is my first brand new bike. I also have a hot rod 2004 XL1200C, but I am getting ready to put that up for sale.
Anyhow, here are some of the changes I have made and a few photos...
* Vance and Hines Pro Pipe 2 into 1
* Vance and Hines FP3
* Roland Sands Design "Turbine" air cleaner
* HD Daymaker LED Headlamp

Good to hear from you. You have a very nice LR. Did you do the mods yourself?
Welcome to the thread and be sure to keep us updated on your LR.
Mid installation of progressive fork springs, this is a lowrider! Bottomed out.
V&h comp series 2:1, se air cleaner stock cover cut down, fp3. Used amsoil 10 weight on forks, weight 155. Comfortable ride, Tucson and back 2 day trip from San Diego, w quarter fairing,
Stock spring on the right
There is a difference in ride quality. The stock springs were ok for me, somebody heavier, probably not so much.
