For those that live in FL and enjoy year round riding, are any you nervous when riding given all the senior citizens that live in FL? A guy I worked with retired a few weeks back and was moving down to FL. I asked him what HD he was getting as a retirement present (he had owned HDs in the past) and he told me he did not want to ride in FL given all the retirees on the road. We have all seen countless stories of some elderly person pulling out in front of or turning in front of a motorcycle.
Well, I try to avoid certain areas during "season" and I drive extremely defensively and assume EVERYONE is going to pull out in front of me. I don't hang out in blind spots and when I do pass I usually put the headlight in the side mirror and then pass aggressively from being seen into the blind spot and quickly just in front of their bumper. They also get to hear that Bassani crank up too. I also take a lot of back roads and will flash my high beams in intersections and when passing side streets. Even with all that I know that one jackass can ruin your life in a blink of an eye whether it's an elderly driver, a soccer mom texting, a drunk, etc.
I am also thinking about LEDs lately. Being seen is a major key to being safe and wearing dark colors as we like to do, it just makes sense to put on some brighter lights. I like those ghost ring fronts. I have a couple of guys in our group that went to them and you get noticed a lot easier.

Very valid question given that I lived in SW Fl for now about nine years. Four of those years will have been on a MC. My experience has been a mix bag of near misses on my MC between older drivers and younger drivers.....from one end of the spectrum to the other age wise. Where as when driving my vehicle I've seen it all.....age has no bearings.
So in short I has to drive with my head on 360 regardless. I will say that having riding a MC has sharpened my situational awareness skill.
A recent study by an insurance co reported that motorcycle riders are 31% safer drivers than non motorcycle riders. Situational awareness probably plays a key role in this.

Sounds right. When you ride you need to pay attention to what you are doing and what others are doing. Otherwise, it could be your ***.
Looks like winter is finally here in my neck of the woods. Last ride was last Friday. Filled it up and added Stabil. Today, I gave the bike a little wipe down, put the cover on, and got the Battery Tender Jr. ready to go. Barring some freak warm weather, it will be mid-March until I ride again. Closed year out with 6035 miles. A records for me in only 7 months of riding.

Same here in NE Florida my friend. Always on alert.
Just hooked up my 2016 lowrider with a Bassani road rage 2-1 short. Big thanks to the help of an awesome dude forum member Feileod. The bike looks and sounds incredible.
