Ike saw a new thread I had made to introduce myself and said I should do so here as there's a lot of experience and good information. So, here I am!
I just bought a 2014 FXDL in March, 2016 with a whopping 482 miles! for a price I just couldn't resist. This is my first Harley, but Harley has been in my family since before I was even thought of. My dad is a veteran rider (just stopped in NM from IA and snapped me some pics) and him and my uncle both ride pristine '16' Ultra Classics. Needless to say, my bike now has 813 miles and will continue to climb, no dust time for this machine anymore
Anyway, I'm hoping to get some tips on customizing, I just picked up a great HD backrest for a good price and need to find a good rear turn signal relocation kit. Also looking at getting a nice windshield or fairing. Not sure which I like more yet, I love the looks of the fairings, but the shields might have more blocking ability? Maybe you guys can help steering me in the right direction on these? Any suggestions or tips, very appreciated.
P.s. I'm no spring chicken when it comes to customizing, I know my way around the shop so any suggestions that entail a little bit of ingenuity and elbow grease is just fine with me!
Congrads on getting your LR. The LR is the cream of the HD crop. Did you buy it from a private party or a dealer?
Go through the pages and this thread and you will find tons of customizing ideas and tips.
When I was up at the dealers today I got to have a look at the new Low Rider S. It was 20k Canadian. They also have a normal Low Rider in stock that has two tone paint, ABS, and security. Guess what? It costs 20k as well. The "S" model is a real steal for what you get for the same price.

What color is your LR? The black rolls off the floor with swirl marks and I hated it. I think they charge you extra for the swirl marks as an option LMAO. I did Meguiars 3 step and it got some of it out (back in the fall), but I bet a good detailer can really get rid of that crap. I have them back again. I may get the bike painted over the winter either to a matte color unless there is a better clear coat that can withstand more.
It is black. I have all kinds of detailing products as I also have two Camaros to keep looking nice. My friend has forgotten more about cleaning and detailing cars and motor than I will ever know. He just gets what he needs from my inventory and goes to work.
Cracking ride out today 0n the 2014 (5050 miles on the clock) across the wolds until it cut to one cylinder. found it was the front cylinder not firing, no loose leads, took out the plugs, front was wet, swapped plugs, still the front not firing, came home in a van! Anyone else had this problem?
Have 15k on mine, nothing like that, might check your plug wire to see if has bad insulation and is leaking to ground, or check with ohm meter to see if correct ohm's per foot.

congratulations on your new ride. check out great bike gear.com for signal relocation mount.
Stock fuel gauge is worthless. Inmost cases when the gauge is telling me I'm "lo range" (under 10 miles) I'll fill up and it will take like 3.5 gallons. WTF?"
Stock fuel gauge sucks. I cannot believe that HD cannot give buyers a working fuel gauge. I have had the fuel warning light come on and when I stop to get more gas, I am only putting in 3 gallons. My last two sport bikes had accurate fuel gauges that actually worked.
Have any of you gotten condensation inside of your speedo/tach. I was out yesterday and it was cool out but the sun was beating down and had some develop. I just want to know if this is standard course or if I should have the dealer replace under warranty.
Never had that happen.

Hasn't happened to my Low Rider yet, but my stock speedo on my Road King did that. I got tired of seeing that and local HD dealer didn't want to replace it under warranty, so I bought one of those new fangled speedometer/tach combo with the pretty lights and after about 5k miles it's doing it too. I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.
