New here, been ridin a sporty. Finally moved up to 07 SB. Does anyone know the part# for the quick release kit for the POS factory pillion. I'm not impressed with it and would like to be able to remove it without spending half the day. I would just replace the seat but after purchase I'm kinda tapped out on funds. Did the pipe and forwards at the dealership. Love the ride but couldnt they come up with something better for two up??? I know SB is designed for the solo rider but want to include SO for shorter rides. i will post some pics. Thanks for all info.
Thanks for all help. I,m thinking I will try to get a stock solo on Ebay and leave my seat screwed together with pillion. Maybe just need an extra seat retainer then. That way I can slip off two up and go solo easy enuf. I noticed dealer installed bumper pad kit to fender under pillion. That should be fun to get off. Read where somebody glued bumper pad to seat. I really dont want that pretty black fender all scratched. 70 degeees here today Whoo-Hoo.
Think I'm moving in the same direction as you. Had pillion installed on my '06 SB and am thinking about changing out permanent sideplates and going with detatchables. Haven't tried removing the pillion yet. How long did it take the first time?
I had bought the pillion for my 07 SB. However, I didn't like the loaf of bread on my fender. It only takes about 10 min to take it on and off but it is a pain in the you know what. I just went with the leather badlander seat and it looks good. It of course isn't the solo look but it goes well with the lines on the bike.
i also have the big king size mattress on the back fender of my bob as well. I to am going with the badlander seat for my bob. The solo seat looks the best but it's nice to be able to take a hchick with you on a nice warm day. raining here, chance of snow this weekend. boo
When I purchased I had quick detach sissy bar installed. When dealer delivered the bike and I found out how the pillon was installed, I called the parts guy and he said to just move the seat retainer nut to the other hole in the fender. I said just send me another retainer nut. He said he would have to charge me for it. Dont think I'll be buying another bike there anytime soon. The bike looks OK, but I really like the look of the solo. Wife doesnt go that often so yesterday I bought the 51668-97 quick detach kit off ebay. Several here stated it will work with some modification.15 bucks is a good price as HD's MSRP is 79.95. what a load of crap ,for what, a couple of pieces of metal and a thumb screw? Also bought QD windshield for 150$ less than HD dealer price. I'm not that impressed with my dealer, you would think that thay could do better on their parts pricing . Guess thats why we calls them stealers. I have a buddy who builds choppers and rides a new Heritage that has his own shop with a lift and all the tools. When I hit 1000 mile service we will be doing it. I will give them the 200 they want to dyno tho. Bike seems to run Ok for now, but havent really got on it, cant wait to see what the 96 can do. My 1200C was pretty quick, but I didnt feel very comfortable riding too far on hiway. When you met a semi, bout blew you in the ditch, but was great around town. Ride safe!!
