Put a three way togal switch on it and use the key flob to dis arm the motor or if in the USA put the togal on and a sticker stating Insured by Smith and Wesson You will be just fine. JK!!
Don't sweat it Walt, you did a great job; thanks for the awesome instructions - if someone really wants your bike, they'll take it, regardless of the ignition configuration...
Killer, that't the thing I didn't like about the 07 street bob I had was the ign switch in the neck. Good job man. Looks like it should be. Thanks for the pictures. Now send this to Harley.
i have the 06 superglide and as you know its not the same as the bob but i see the ign. switch can be relocated so my question is how to wire it.. is there a wiring dia. that can be posted with pics to clear a few things.. this is a great mod and i myself wouldnt be afraid at all to try this on my bike if there were some pics to clear up some install and wiring question.. anyone that has done this mod have any pics or a complete write up on how the new switch is wired up...
Looks very nice! Did my 06 FXD last year, and wired console switch in series with the neck switch. Service guys have a hard time figurng out how to turn the ignition on.
I like this mod. after looking on ebay, it seems there are two main choices.
the one that Walt used seemes to use the conventional looking straight key and is intended for the older bikes? http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...Photo-0026.jpg
Would this one with the newer (and similar to ours) key work? As far as fitting in there and being able to have adequate clearance for the wiring. http://i8.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/b9/d6/2cc0_1.JPG
And am I correct in assuming the switch works without the key being in there, as long as the lock is unlocked?
