Thanks for mentioning this. Mine we also pretty loose. Saw some blue locktite there, b ut not much. Might have to switch to red (271) if they loosen up again. Nylon would also be a good idea instead of the acorn nuts (although not as nice looking).
I had one nut fall off the windshield I had on my Sporty when I had it and it was pretty new. The dealer charged like $1.69 for the nut. Since then I got a FXDI35 and had to tighten all the nuts. When I have more time I will take them all out and locktight them.
I've got a Wind Vest shield and I have never had any problems with the fasteners. I love the look as well. It was on the bike when I bought it, but I would gladly buy another one for my future bikes. It works really well.

I lost two on my first ride after having the new sheild put on. Deal gave me the parts (no charge). Needless to say I put plenty of lok tite on it and checked the rest...most were loose.
You have to be careful tightening them. One of the reasons they are coming loose is because techs have been cracking them when they over tighten the nuts. So the techs have been extra careful not to overtighten which leads to loose nuts! I just try to check mine every week or so.
