Got my 16" front wheel and hub back from powder coat today then laced it up tonight. Just need to order spokes for the rear, get it laced up and take both to get trued. Not to much longer and I'll be riding again!
The front rim comes powder coated black but after sitting here looking at the rim and hub I'm not happy. The rim looks dull compared to the hub, going to unlace it and take it to get the same gloss black on it as what's on the hub.
Thanks for posting this link. I've been looking for a 16x5 rim to lace on my rear hub. Does this one look like it's good quality?
I used to build wheels when I was a bicycle mechanic. I've done my own motorcycle wheels four times now. Each time I say that I'm not going to do that again. Now it looks like I'll be doing it again this winter.
It's a really good quality wheel and using only Buchanan spokes. Have to call them Monday to give tem the profile if the rear rim so I know what spokes to order

Are you using your stock streetbob hub? If so, please let me know what spokes they say to use.
Yeah I am and a wide glide hub on the front for the 16x3
I still need to get a front wheel, as I'm going to do the full on FL front end conversion. I've already got the front end sitting in my garage. I'm pretty much just lacking a front wheel and fender at this point, as well as a 16" rim for the rear. I could keep the 17" on there, but every time I get tires I kick myself that I didn't go to 16" when I powdercoated my hubs and rims a few years ago. I'm planning on doing all the work over the winter.
