Next up will be the disassembly of the forks so that I can powder coat the lower sliders black and put the Race Tec parts in.

Before I took the forks off, I installed the fork truss and marked out where it gets installed by spraying tool makers ink on the sliders so that I can mask it off for powder coat.

Got them to this point and now I will need a second set of hands to use the homemade tools to completely disassemble them the rest of the way.

Here are the home made tools in use.
This part of the disassembly is a two person job.
One person pushes the spring down and the other places the retainer in place while the spring is compressed.

I got the info for the tools from another thread on this form.
I have never taken apart a set of adjustible forks before but I wont let that stop me.

Here is what I made..

Do yourself a favor and add either 0.85 or 0.9 Kg/mm springs.. Gold valves are nice too..

Not too keen on the riser height, but otherwise that's a sweet looking bike.

Decided to go on to the ignition tonight.
Changing it to a Datona Twin Tec.
Took about an hour to change it out after going through the two layers of of the electrical box. Not difficult at all.

Next up is installing the Race Tech Gold valves.

I couldnt find any good pictures anyware on where these go on these forks but I finally figured it out, they are in the dampening tube.

You need to drill out these dimples in the dampening tube with a 3/16" drill as per the instructions & then push the valves into the tube and pull out the retaining ring.

After the retaining ring is out push the valves out and there it is!
