My 2001 FXDXT T-Sport Modifications
I powder coated the tappet covers black and instaled them and the cam cover with all new ARP hardware.
I did get the piston ring gaps all ground to S&S specs. and installed in the new cylinders.
Should have some time this weekend to get the cyl. on to the bike, my preferred method of doing this is to install the pistons in the cyl. on the bench and then install them on the bike.
I opted for new S&S cylinders to take advantage of the larger cooling fins over the stock ones.
I am at a bit of a standstill until the jig to machine the heads for the manual compression releases shows up.
In the meantime I will move on to a few other little tasks that need completing as well.
This is the first time for me drilling heads for releases. I could have set these up to machine them manually in the milling machine but decided to buy the jig. The set up time & time to machine two heads was not worth my time. This jig is very straight forward to use.
I will be using 79cc S&S super stock heads that will handle a .585 lift cam. Acording to S&S this should give me 10.3:1 compression ratio.
I powder coated the push rod covers black chrome and translucent purple.
I decided that I would try and use the stock CV carb that will be jetted for the motor according to CV performance and also some info that I found on forum.
You do need the S&S intake that is matched for these heads in order to use the stock CV carb. If I don't like how the carb works I will change it.
