Default 2014 FXDB Tuner advice

First let me say that I know there are many discussions on this subject in the forums, read thru most but still not sure which way to go. apologize in advance

Its my uncles' 2014 FXDB
- Bassani RR 2-1
- S&S teardrop AC

Mechanically I'm good, built my bike from frame up but I kinda get lost with computer stuff so having something that is plug and play idiot proof would be ideal. Something I dont need a dyno to tune. Also its my uncles bike so if I fck it up i'm screwed he is getting old but can still kick my ***.

Leaning towards Screamin Eagle pro super tuner?

Any feedback helpful. johnny

There is no plug and play auto tune tuner that you just hook up and run. You guys can flame away, but the term "auto tune" is dumb.

I think TTS is the most advance tuner on the market. But for what you want, just call Jamie at fuel moto and buy a tuner with a preinstalled loaded map for your bike and mods. That's as close to plug and play as your going to get...and you still might have to mess with it.

Screamin eagle super tuner is not user friendly from all the post I have read.....its good if you have a tuner to get it tuned for you(same with the TTS to have a tuner tweet it), but you don't want to go down that route.

How much is he willing to spend is the question???

I don't like the fuel pak by V&H but I would say it by far the easiest to setup(I have done 2 bike with them)....saying that the new Fuel Pak FP3 has been getting some great reviews and it has an autotune feature as well, since it's going on a 2014. Can be had for less than $400.

Here is another senerio..if your uncle knows he is not going to do any other engine mods, you can have the bike dyno'ld and pay a licence fee and use the dyno operators tuner. It's reflashed for life and you are off the hook. You could be done for under 500 bucks and have a custom tune on the bike.

Now you have to research a dyno tuner that knows what he's doing.

I have the FP3 on my '13 Street Bob with the SE stage I intake and V&H 3" slip ons and it runs great with a canned map. I haven't ran the auto tune feature yet though, but, from what most have gotten from V&H is if you run a different exhaust to pick a tune with a similar V&H exhaust and auto tune it. It is extremely easy to use and all you need is a iPhone or android phone.

Thanks guys I'm leaning towards the FP3, hadnt heard of it before just read up on it and seems really cool almost too easy... If I understand correctly I would have to pick a V&H exhaust similar to the Bassani 2-1 from the menu?

Should get the pipes and AC in the next couple wks will update you guys. Thanks for saving me from getting the screamin eagle. j

Do not know how much you are willing to spend, but personally I would go with the Thundermax Auto Tune #309-382.
If purchased from Cyclesolutions cost is $674.00 (+ Free USPS Priority Mail Shipping,) if you call and ask for their best price, (That is what I did) give them your mod info and they will load the correct map for you.
Install is really easy, and is pretty much so plug and play. Autotune does the rest.
Just make sure when exhaust is purchased it is for 2006 - 2011 Dyna, these will have the 18 mm exhaust bung's for the 18 mm 02 sensors.

If you ever have any question's about the TM, Cyclesolution's owner Chris always respond's no matter what day it is, I have had GREAT customer service from him.

So go to ThunderMax's web site and do a little reading before you make your decision......and check Cyclesolution's for best price..........

Good Luck.............

I went through Fuel Moto for a tuner with a preloaded map and have never regretted it. I highly recommend them.

I also went with the Fuel Moto PV-2, what a great product, does everything you want it to plus more, you may want to research this item before you pull the trigger on anything
