I guess to each his own, but I always thought the tank emblems were cool and wish I had some. Are they really cheesy? Are they plastic or metal.

thin molded soft metal. don't look bad from 20 feet away but up close they are kind of an eyesore imo.

If you grab a piece of fishing line and tie it to a couple of pieces of wood (handles) you can place the wire between the tank and the emblem and pull until the emplem comes off. Any residual glue can be heated up and cleaned up with Goo Gone.

Mailman - On the bobber, it's really easy. I just did it myself on my new '07. My bike is a week old, so the adheasive might not have really gotten set, but I just used dental floss and sawed back and forth (under the logo). As soon as I got one corner up, I just used my hands and pulled the logo off the tank. When I pulled it off, ALL of the adheasive pulled right off with the aluminum logo. There was NO residue at all and I didn't even need to use adheasive remover. Took me a total of 10 minutes and you can't tell that they were ever on the bike in the first place.

Glue line remover. Available at any automotive paint supply store, or at any sign supply shop. It's used to remove glued on trim prior to painting cars. Works great and is cheap.
