For almost a year I have gotten the intermittent "V Inner" code during start up. The bike was completely stock when it started giving the code. It has always just been a slow crank and then it starts. The code was hit or miss with no real pattern. Two nights ago I went to the store, started w/out the code, ran great. Came out of the store, hit the starter, doesn't even crank, v inner is displayed and the electrical goes crazy, all lights flashing, fuel pump re-primes, etc. Go through this for a few cycles, never starts. I checked the battery cables, all tight. Tried it in gear, out of gear, hit starter before fuel pump finished, after it finished, nothing. No recent messing with the wiring or anything.
The dealer just came and picked it up, I'll update when I hear back from them.
when i was getting that code and it was starting hard it ended up being my battery cable being loose. i would have bet a million dollars that it was fine, but everyone kept saying to check it....sure enough. fixed it. make sure even if tight that there is a good connection, no rubber smashed between the contacts, no corrosion, ect. also check the other end of the battery cable to make sure its tight there too.
Good news, it was just the battery! It showed good at rest, but it failed the load test miserably. They replaced the battery under warranty, I'll pick it up tomorrow.

Good to hear. My '14 Street Bob left me stranded the second day I had it. Ended up being a bad ECM.
Interesting, I'm already on my third battery on my '13 Street Bob, all warranty covered, but one has to wonder about the batteries they are putting on new bikes?
I use a 4-stage charger/tender to keep the V INERR away. While I was down with a back injury, the bike sat for over a month off the tender. When I tried to start it the first time, I got the same reaction (dead battery). I just hooked up my charger and left it for a few days. It started up and has been fine since, but I do still get the V INERR if it sits for more than a couple days without being ridden. After reading this, I'm thinking a trip to the dealer for a load test may be in order. I have a few more months left on my warranty. Thanks for posting.
