I have a 1/2in drive torque wrench up to 200 ft lbs, but I would recommend a 3/8 drive so you don't have to use an adapter to go from 3/8 to 1/2. I have a friend who is a total gear head and he told be using an adapter while torque is not a good idea
Holy BS. The torque loss from a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter is less than negligible.
If he was talking about the adapter plus a 24" extension and a crowsfoot, he would have a point. Your "gearhead" friend is a doofus.
A buddy of mine wanted to get tools. He wanted to get everything as possible. I took him to home depot and he picked up a set of 210 tools. Came with everything he will ever need for sae and metric, a tq wrench up to 110lbs, tq. sockets, a 1/4 inch impact with magnetic wrenches up to 1/2 inch, socket allens. he now can do anything he needs to do. Cost was less than $300 for everything.
I love my 1/4 inch impact, it really speeds things up. I just start by hand to make sure it isn't cross threaded. It has 45foot lbs of tq.
