I got my powder coat swatches in friday and have decided between two colors. Also my paint combination that goes with each one is between two as well. Here is a picture of them. They proceed as follows:
1.) Trans Copper II
2.) Illusion Twisted Tangerine
3.) Illusion Orange
4.) Illusion Sour Apple
5.) Golden Apple II
My paint and powder coat choices are as follows:
Combo 1: Trans Copper II and Gloss Black paint
Combo 2: Illusion orange and Fords Sterling Gray metallic paint
I think black and copper, with white wall tires would rock but also think the other combination with a few things I plan on making would give a custom modern look.
well that depends... what are you looking to do/coat? what parts are you thinking in what
The tank, fenders, and bags will be Sterling Grey Metallic paint. Pretty much all the usual parts that people get powder coated black (cam, primary, trans, etc.) will be powder coated illusion orange and paint my engine gloss black. Looking for something different, tired of the all black scene and it's time for something different.
that is def alot going on... we have a buddy of mine that is building a fat bob with silver black and orange... we have done a ton of coating on it... to pull this off and not make it look like a bunch of bolt on random parts you will have to do the frame/swingarm... if not you will have way to many colors going on with the bike (polished, chrome, gloss black, flat black, orange, silver) I always try to do 2 main colors and one accent.
you can see how powerful the orange is... we did a ton in it, like the brakes, engine, frame etc,
The way I plan on doing it, the end result will not be as wild as that is. That IMO is way to over the top, but to each their own. The orange that will be done on my bike is more of an accent color.
That being said, I think the Silver would be good on the tank, fenders, bags and frame and use the orange in a highlight way around the motor and trans, maybe get a paint match and do some pin striping on the tins and bags to tie it all together. Make the Silver your primary color when looking at the bike and use the orange to make things pop while not taking away from the black in the motor, one primary color and two contrasting colors that aren't an eye sore.
