Default Derby Cover

Hey all,

Im looking at doing a little paint work on my derby cover. I know the primary gets hot but does anyone know if its hot enough to need high heat paint? I have some high heat black already but the colors are pretty limited compared to regular rattle can paint. Thanks!

Could get warm enough to break-down integrity of regular paint...I'd recommend powder coating.

use a DA sander with 1200 paper and sand surface well, use self etching primer and good quality paint and will have no problem . I have my timing cover, derby cover painted with air brush paint and than cleared coated have been on bike sense this spring and have had no issues paint looks as good as day they went on.

Just a thought, Harley sells a derby cover gasket designed to keep the fluid from splashing on their accessory derby covers. Part number is 25416-99C
