1997 wide glide help!
I'm considering buying a 1997 H-D FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide. It'sSilver/White has15,838 miles on it. The price is$9,990.00. It looks to be in good shape. Anything special i need to be looking out for? Any particular issue with that year of that bike? Is the price ok? I've only been riding a yer and I'm trading my first bike (Honda ACE) in for this. The only way I can afford a Harley i to buy used but I don't wnt to get screwed. Any suggestions?

hey AZ Last Nov I bought a 95 wg that was pretty rough but had only 13thou. miles. It cleaned up great and it runs super. I paid 8500 but it came with a ton of extras. Now remember that up to 1999 they were only 80 ci but the evo's are great engines and they sound great.
That's a great bike, just look over the cylinder base gaskets, the evo's had a problem with them weeping. The compensator nuts had a habit of loosening up too, it will give you a knocking like a bad rod, nothing that can't be fixed by retorquing the nut. It requires removal of the primary cover. It's a small job and not an indication of a problem bike at all since many had the same problem. They have since gone to a different retorquing method that will eliminate this which applies more torque in a different sequence.
I dontrecall seeing any clean wide glides under $10k in my travels. If it's ready to ride, inspected and runs good i'd say its a good buy.
Although it seems like$10k buys alot more Harley than it did a couple years ago.
