2006 Boogie Glide, er, Street Bob - SE II slip ons, Stage I intake/mapw/ K&N, TFI
Been experimenting with my pipes recently and am considering the Big City Thunder 'Thunder Monsters' for my SE slip ons. Before I pull the original baffles, do they have fiberglass packing? And if yes, do you reuse the packing w/ the Thunder monsters?
My 2006 R1200 has the same pipes and when I removed the baffles (one actually blew out, another story)there was a layer of packing...hence the questions. I'll eventually go w/ a 2 into 1 system but for now I want a deeper, throatier sound and have the buget (or is it sickness?) to experiment, within reason.
Always helps to ask a simple question, thats why I'm hanging out here waiting for frost to break!
Boogie,
There was not any packing in there. It's a 20 minute job, I put a generous helping of threadlocker on there when I installed the bct and have not had any problems.

Thanks b, it appeared there was no packing the last time I had the slips off. How do you like your BCTs? Now that I can control my fuel, I'm anxious to experiment!
Get them. For the price, it's a good bang for the buck.
Whiff
Sounds like it - I've yet to hear a negative comment about them. I have the website minimized and am ready to pull the trigger at any moment! What's another $120 or so, eh?
Dude you are reading my mind......I have the exact same set up and think I have blown out a baffle by running it too slow (yeah sure..). But I am thinking about the BCT baffles as well. However, now my 2007 budget is out the window thanks to some chrome roadwinder wheels on ebay. If you do go with BCT can you post the results on this thread please?... 2008 is not that far away.......
I tried a set of BCT's On my Hot-Rod Sporty, Did serveral dyno pulls also. Here's what i expiereced. On the dyno I play'd with baffles untill I got the most power i could get without loosing to much bottom end power. Then the baffles came out the BCT's went in. It was clear the BCT's made ALOT more bottom-mid range power. The very topend power was offsome though. Next I took the bike for a ride and it felt very responsive all around. Very rider friendly. The only thing i didnt like about them waswhen the engine hits the wall it does it very hard. It nose's over very fast. So id say for everyday riding and for two-up riding there very good. If you really like hot-rodding like i do you might not like taperd off topend power thing.
I installed the bct baffles a couple of hundred miles ago and love them. Great sound excellent mid range and smoother cruising speeds. I do get a slight pop on hard decel and slight surging during very low speed cruising. Well worth the money imo
