Default Fuel gauge cover

Does anybody know how to remove this? I know the whole unit just pops out, but I'm wanting to remove just the chrome cover, in order to black out the gas cap and fuel gauge.

Joe the Powder Pro (JRK5892) might chime in on this, I think he looked into this before, not sure if he was able to do it or not.

I am looking into a new gauge and cap setup also, the flush mount I have I love it, but have been having issues with it lately. The gas cap sticks in the closed position and the tinted lens flew off about a year ago while riding down the freeway to Daytona.

What bike are you on? I know my 03 FXD has a chrome ring around the gauge that comes off with 5 small bolts. But its the style that sits on the dash strip.

Damn, that wrinkle black looks nice! So does the actual guage part come out, or is it all one piece?

It comes off. Haven't researched how....

Joe Powder disassembles and coats it for you, but isn't interested in telling you how they do it. When they make Money on it, I get that they want to keep it on the downlow...

I live on the other side of the pond, so I'm not gonna spend $100 to ship it over there, so I might look into this this Winter. They look damn good in black

Much like Joe and his team had to do, figure it out, he got on here and asked how to do it a year or so ago and no one could answer, so they figured it out.

Maybe if you send him a PM instead of complaining about how he isn't helping and doesn't want to help anyone, he might help you out. I have sent him more PM's than he could ever want asking for help and he is very good about helping. Maybe he doesn't want to be blamed when his instructions are misunderstood and something breaks by someone that reads this thread in two weeks or two years. I really don't know why he doesn't explain it, you would have to ask him.

How am I complaining??? I said I DO understand why he doesn't give instructions, I wouldn't either if it was part of my livelihood.

However, there's been threads before asking the same question, Joe has chimed in, but as far as I know never told how he disassembles them...... That's why I assume the OP isn't getting the instructions from Joe. I could be wrong though.

Nah, nobody's told me how. I know it's got two small screws underneath that don't seem to do anything when removed....lol.

Jay, I am sorry if I misread your post. It came across to me that you were complaining that Joe makes it more important to make a dollar rather than help with the OP's quest to disassemble the parts. Also seemed that this was affirmed when you said something about how you would have to spend a lot on shipping (understandable) to accomplish then and wouldn't if Joe would just share his secret.

Again, I sorry if I misread your post.

OP, I hope you find your answer.
