Default Need Help - Bike Won't Start

Installed 12" Yaffe Monkey Bars. I carefully taped all connections and wrapped all wires in an abrasion resistant cable wire sleeve.

Just put the tank back on and was attempting to start the bike and i get nothing. I can hear the fuel pump kick on.

All the switches on the left side of the motorcycle work. All the switches on the right side with the exception of the start button work (hazards work, info works, turn signal works, kill switch works - can hear fuel pump kick on when switching it back and forth).

I have the solid red security light on. And when I look at the DTC's on the screen I get a U0100 Code that reads U0100: 0xxx10x1 Lost Comm. w/ECM

Any ideas what went wrong with the install???

Check continuity at your positive starter wire where it connects to the main harness. Perhaps you have a bad crimp on that terminal.

I'll check. I didn't do any crimping, just added plug and play wiring extensions (with 12" the factory length wires and connectors barely reach out the bottom of the yaffe's).

Been trying to check all my connections

Still could be a bad crimp by whomever made the extensions. Check your fuses also.

I see this all the time. It may or may not be your issue.

Folks strip then twist two wires together and wrap with electrical tape. When they fish the wires through something like handlebars they pull and separate their wire connections without knowing it. They then have to pull the wires out and remove the tape to see where the connection is broken.

The best way to splice wires together is by soldering them and using a heat shrink tube for insulation. Twisting together and crimp connectors sometimes cause connection problems.

Regardless, You either have the wires mixed up or a compromised connection. If you did this with the battery still connected then I would also check for blown fuses.

Good luck.
