Are you sure that the brake light is not on all the time?
Check and make sure that both filaments in the bulb are not both illuminated.
If the brake light is on all the time:
Disconnect one of the wires from the rear brake light switch, if the brake light goes out, the problem is a bad rear brake light switch.
If the brakelight does not go out, the problem is probably a stuck front brake light switch.
Follow the service manual instructions to remove and clean the area of the front brake light switch, pay special attention to the requirement of installing a cardboard shim between the lever and the switch plunger.
a shot in the dark... have you recently removed the front brake lever/perch? i did so and broke the silly little plastic nub on the brake and it causes the brake light to always be on.
