Can someone tell me if it's possible to wire a usb cable straight to a motorcycle battery/fuse box?
I'm trying to keep a bluetooth transmitter powered while I ride. I don't want the hassle of a ton of adapters. Just really want one single cable (micro usb) directly into the transmitter .
Battery.... 12v. USB..... 5v. You need an adapter of some kind like the ones that plug into a cig lighter.

I like that idea. Any clue if a small Bluetooth adapter would be enough to drain my battery? I am not electrically inclined whatsoever.
All I know is the back of the adapter says
DC 5v 0.5A
The size of the thing is about 2"x1" little box. I would think this little sucker wouldnt even draw enough power to make a dent.
What exactly are you trying to do with the Bluetooth adapter? If it is Version 4.0 or higher it will offer extremely low power consumption but you would still want it to be wired to a switched source anyway.

I have a set of handlebar speakers that I current connect to my phone for tunes while I ride. I would like to "cut the cord" and go the bluetooth route. More for convenience than anything else.
Gotcha, just making sure what you were wanting to do was even possible, people try some crazy things on here
Anyway, when I was wiring my HD Garage Door opener this weekend, I was trying to find a switched 12v wire and during my search I came across 1 wire in the main harness that was a switched 5V wire. Not sure what its purpose is but I am ordering the Electrical Diag Manual today so I can be more informed. Might be worth dragging out a multimeter and checking yours? I have a 2016 Forty Eight.
