Default 2018 CVO Limited Regulator Problems?

Yesterday as I was on my way over to visit my Indy to pay for my winter storage I noticed that my volt meter was reading 15.5 - 16 volts at highway speeds (3000 rpm). My Indy hooked up a meter and read 15.3 volts at 2000 rpm which was about the same thing the bike was reading. He said it was probably the regulator and assuming I had warranty I needed to take the bike into HD.
I called my dealer and they said bring the bike over and they would take a look when they got a chance. It was about a 1 hour ride from the Indy to the dealer. On the way to the dealer I noticed that both my turn signals seemed to be flashing fast like when you loose a bulb.

Anyway the dealer now has the bike (sigh). Any of you electrical guru's have any thoughts? Do you think it is the regulator too?

the regulator is controlled by a zener diode and usually around 14.8 volts but they can skew sometimes and could be normal. there is a protection circuit there also which chops the ac input if the voltage gets too high. can the regulator be bad, well yep and nope. you can have it tested on a known source. one thing that effects the regulator is resistance, as resistance increases, voltage will go up as a product of ohm's law. the battery would be suspect as well as bad terminations. that said, load testing a battery is not a good indicator of internal resistance but they do have testers that can judge it. also, check the dc current for ac ripple, batteries do not like it.

High resistance in the battery terminals usually is what causes this. Mine get loose from vibration. The first thing to check and I would not carry it in to find this out. They will find something else first to pay themself with.
