Default Speedometer odometer memory ecm

Hi all,

I also posted on the ECM chapter.
i know for years that Harley speedos kept internal memory of miles but understand recent newer bikes feed odometer off a remote ecm and not stored in Speedometer itself.
Does anyone know what year this change took effect?
thx
jim

If that were the case there would be no need to transfer the Odometer data from the old speedo to the new speedo via the data link connector. If you order a new speedo from HD the instructions require you to transfer the ODO data and after 34 miles the speedo pairs with the ECU.
