New to the forum, but looking forward to sharing and learning with fellow HD folks. mine incidentally is an '03 Police/100th Birthday Ed.
I recently inherited a '99 STARLITE mc trailer from my all time best friend and riding partner, and am prepping for a trip from N.Y to Tn.
I purchased a plug-n-play setup from USA trailer and it is going in pretty well so far. I'm ready to attached the 5-flat connector to the trailer and the bike, and .........at LAST, the question I have: There is NO white (common ground) wire coming off the unit to mate up to the pigtail of the trailer connector. Does this mean that I just attach the ground wire from the pt to a good surface anywhere on the bike? I expected it would attach to the add-on harness and attach at the neg. terminal of the battery.
Counting on your help in preventing my having to "911" the fire dept.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!!
Please accept my apology. This little thing got the better of me.......no excuses.
Believe me, this type of commentary is very much out of character for me and I promise to conduct my communications in a more mature fashion in the future.
The best ground would be where there battery ground connects to the transmission. Or any bolt screwed through the frame. Connect a round terminal to the wire, and clean the contact point well.
